Dawn of Justice cues up the military extras
Extras with military background will film scenes for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on June 11, 2014 in the Detroit area.
In April, Crown City Pictures held a casting event in Detroit recruiting thousands of extras for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which began principal photography in May. Of the thousands, the casting call was specifically looking for men and women who were military and business executive types. The call resulted in a very successful showing from area residents, upwards of thousands upon thousands, submitting their applications for a chance to be in the largest movie to ever film in Michigan.
Extras from that audition have been called for fittings. Production is only calling up those with an actual military background (at this time.) They will report on June 11, 2014 and filming will take place all day and into the evening. **NOTE ADDED 6/5/214: This is about when Jesse Eisenberg previously said he would begin filming his scenes.
Production has upwards of about 8500 extras roles to fill for the movie. The military roles are a portion of the 8500. What they will all be used for is as unclear as murky water, no doubt due to the film’s tight security many have observed.
The Michigan film office has said Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is the largest production to come to Michigan, with a budget for the location of about $131MM, and production eligible to receive $35MM as a filming incentive. The film also created over 400 local jobs for trade workers all the way to art department coordinators. Location shoots will occur around the Detroit area through December, before production moves on to Africa and the South Pacific, as well making a return to Yorkville, IL where Superman will come home to the Kent Farm for a brief visit.
