Eisenberg will be filming for five weeks
UPDATE: A big “Thank you!” goes out to Laney Boggs for a second article explaining another movie that Jesse Eisenberg will be a part of just after he finishes filming The End of the Tour. Eisenberg will be acting alongside Kristen Stewart for their new film together, American Ultra, which is going to be filming in New Orleans from April 14th to June 10th, according to the article on Nola.com. The film is about a small-town American man (Eisenberg) who’s constantly stoned and lives with his girlfriend (Stewart) just before his world is turned upside down. According to the article on nola.com, Eisenberg’s character’s past catches up to him as the government is trying to “wipe him out.” It’s going to be a fun film that producer Anthony Bregman said, “will be the most fun you can possibly have in a movie theater without drugs, fireworks, or canola oil.” (nola.com) Sounds interesting, eh? In combination with our original report, this places Jesse in other projects for approximately four months- February 19 to June 10.
It’s not exactly Lex Luthor who caused the delay. But, the actor playing Luthor is involved in another project. In an article from Mlive.com, it was revealed that Jesse Eisenberg, Batman vs. Superman‘s Lex Luthor, had just begun shooting a completely different movie than that of the follow up to Man of Steel in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It only took a matter of minutes and simple math skills to realize that this may be a very good reason (and perhaps not the only one) why there had to be a delay in shooting the next film in the Man of Steel series.
Eisenberg will be co-starring with fellow admired, hilarious actor, Jason Segel, for the film The End of the Tour. According to the article on Mlive.com, this film is “a biographical film about author David Foster Wallace.” Our latest Lex Luthor will be playing David Lipsky, a writer for Rolling Stone magazine, and Segel will be playing author David Foster Wallace. Lipsky will be recounting events that happened on a book tour with David Wallace, and for now, this is all we really know about the film-to-be. Although this movie is said to be a biographical film, according to the article, there’s bound to be comic relief spread nicely throughout this film due to both Segel and Eisenberg being its stars.
The official announcement for the production and release date delay for the highly anticipated Batman vs Superman movie was surprising, catching most off guard who were tuned in for sooner-rather-than-later production information and updates. With the announcement, fans everywhere were throwing up their hands with a nice loud, “Come on!” However, with Jesse involved in another film, it makes more sense. It’s interesting how things turn out, isn’t it?
The End of the Tour will be the first movie that Jesse Eisenberg has filmed while knowing that he will be playing Lex Luthor shortly thereafter; It’s intriguing to think of what his thought processes are like for all of this and what he is doing to prepare for the iconic role of Superman’s most well-known adversary. In terms of timeline, the five week schedule pushes Jesse’s availability back to the end of March/ beginning of April.
With all eyes on Detroit, Henry Cavill is already calling the area his home. Gal Gadot had stated previously she would begin filming her scenes in May, but this was prior to the announced push back by Warner Bros. It remains unknown of the delay has affected her schedule.
While there may be other reasons for the delay, the availability of an actor in a lead villainous role, certainly supports the filmmakers needing time to realize their full creative vision. We suspect there are different reasons contributing to a push back, though.
